So yesterday morning I was caught red-handed…
You see, Barney’s been reading “Warrior Kid” by infamous Navy Seal, Jocko Willink – which I’ll be honest is meant for 7-11 years olds, but is possibly the most vital book ever written for men like you I.
… Especially when it comes to day-to-day operations and daily standards.
Anyway on the back of that book, and fuelled by the “Warrior Kid Code”, Barney now conducts his mornings with DISCIPLINE and that means getting up early to workout and exercise.
Ultimately meaning at 6 am everyday, me and him are doing:
… 100 star-jumps.
… 100 sit-ups.
… And 100 press-ups…
… All before breakfast.
Now I’ll be honest, as he’s panting away, and usually because I’m still fucked from working out the night before, I get a little slack when it comes to the press-ups – especially when he’s not looking.
A lack of discipline that yesterday meant he caught me double counting.
A fall from grace that led to him boldly stating:
“Dad, the Warrior Kid says discipline is about what you’re willing to do when no one else is looking…”
… Has he ever got that right.
Truth is and right now, these words couldn’t ring more true.
As the wheels of commerce start turning once again, victory will continue to go to those men that do what needs to be done, EVEN when you can get away with doing nothing.
… Or you could say, those who are willing to do the work even when there seems to be zero recognition and zero reward, will always come out on top, once the hammer finally drops.
Begging the question this week, are you still showing the discipline needed to keep moving forward, while all eyes are still elsewhere?
I’ll be honest, you’re not alone if over the last 12 moths standards have started to slip.
Yet in the cold hard light of day NOW is the time to reinstall and redeploy disciplined daily actions with speed and with full force – even when no one else is looking.
Me, this week, and when it comes to those push up’s – well fuck I guess it’s time to suck it up and keep pushing.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
PS. I don’t know if you’ve got kids, but if you have I’d consider it your moral obligation, as a parent, to buy them the “Warrior Kid” books by Jocko Willink.
They’re like £8.00 a pop on Amazon and arguably the best education you can give any impressionable boy or girl about feeling empowered and unlocking their potential…
