Less than a month to go until Christmas.
The lights are up in town, Barney (my 8-year-old) is adding shit to his list daily, and you can’t walk down the aisle of Tesco without falling over a tub of celebrations.
On the back of all this, last night I was at a ‘Christmas Do..’
… One that was packed to the rafters with, let’s call them, loose acquaintances.
Now I don’t know about you but me, well, I find this sort of thing excruciatingly painful.
Something to do with the mindless chatter and senseless small talk.
A situation that’s made ten times worse as soon as someone mutters these fateful words…
“So – What do you do?”
… Because let’s be brutally honest, even if I could be arsed to explain what self-made men like you and I voluntarily choose to “do” – most would never understand.
- Never understand this life…
- Never understand this path…
- Never understand this choice…
It’s why if you make the mistake of entertaining them with even a hint of an answer, you’re greeted with this kind of dumb fuckey:
“Wow it must be nice to be able to get up and work when you want!”
I mean really, WTF?!?!
See, if history has taught me anything it’s that the masses have little understanding of
what it’s really like to double down and put it all on the line.
… It’s exactly why Dale Carnegie’s hundred-year-old mantra for money has never been more true:
- Associate with men who are plodding along – and you will too.
- Associate with men who are moaning and complaining – and you will too.
- Associate with men who are average – and you will be too.
… Meaning it’s time to consider that who you choose to align with over this Christmas season will have a direct impact on your success and your bottom line.
Because in my experience if you choose to bend the knee to the arsehole mentality and mindset of mediocrity it will take no prisoners and it will steal your soul.
Probably why last night, and in the end, a swift exit was made before I could be turned to the dark side.
Anyway, the point is this:
Choose Your Christmas Do’s Wisely.
Because In this game, you’ve got to protect yourself from the gravitational pull of weakness at all costs 🙂
