On Sunday I turned 39.
Meaning, less than a year now until I’m officially middle-aged.
Truth be told, I’m pretty happy about it…
See while most people moan about getting over the hill, moan life goes too quick and moan they’re another foot in the grave – I fucking love my birthday.
.. Because every year, without fail, I buy myself a present.
The better the year, the better the present.
This year has been good to me and so I’m off and away again next week.
(Now, to get ahead of the trolls online – Yes I have been on holiday ‘abroad’ three times this year and no, I haven’t broken the ‘rules.’)
Anyway here’s the thing – when you’re the captain of the ship, there’s no birthday bonus, no day in lieu, no go-kart experience….
So that means you have got to build in the wins for yourself.
… While the mediocre majority will sit moaning about their job, their boss and their hours…
For this past year, the likes of you and I have continued to conquer and lay more bricks into our empire.
Another year you’ve made something good.
Another year you’ve provided something good.
Another year you’ve been something good.
Point being, that in this game, and when you actively reward yourself with something you really want, good shit normally happens…
Because I don’t know about you, but when I know there are spoils waiting for me, once I’ve stormed the castle, I figure it’s time to buckle down and start drinking from the skulls of my enemies..
