How Bill Gates plotted his rise…
How Enron plotted to hoodwink the world…
How The Tiger King plotted to take down Carol Baskin…
Anything like that – I’m hooked, I’m in and it generates ideas.
It gets me thinking:
… What happened?
… Why did it happen?
… Can I apply it?
And in my mind here lies the Achilles heel for far too many men in this game.
A B-I-G problem that gives with one hand and takes away with the other.
The entrepreneurial mindset.
Experiencing a spark of an idea and then being able to see how you take that spark from flicker to flame.
Now for me that means, constantly muttering these infamous words:
“I’ve had an idea.”
And here’s the thing…
… This mindset actually makes you luckier than most.
It is what gives you the ability to stand on your own two feet…
It is what separates you from the mass mediocre majority…
And chances are it’s what lead you to end up on this list and reading these emails.
The trouble is, this mindset is like a tap you cannot turn off.
Ideas, brain waves and projects are forever drip-drip-dripping into the minds of self-made men.
They spring up in the middle of the night… in the shower… on the drive to school…
Each idea an opportunity that COULD be the next BIG thing, and each a path to googling, scheming and thinking.
Meaning for the next 48 hours straight you’re.
- Consumed with what it might look like…
- Consumed with what it might feel like…
- Consumed with what it might be like…
… And then, instead of focusing actions on the ONE war that you really need to win.
… The one that you know is going to move the dial.
… And the one that you know you just need to get on with and fucking-do-already.
Distraction sets in.
Meaning:
- Focussed gets diluted.
- Power gets diluted.
- Results get diluted.
It’s why this week, if you want to really start drinking from the skulls of your enemies, the mantra money must be to rebel against your own natural and deep-rooted entrepreneurial mindset.
See to succeed at scale you must ruthlessly disregard shit that will distract you and run you off course.
… Even if it is shiny and new.
In my experience Empires are built ONE war at a time.
Conquer one country – THEN march onward to the next.
Make More. Provide More. Be More.
