I’ve had a lot of emails this week along the lines of this:
“Charlie – have you seen this dick online? He’s ripping off your stuff!”
I follow the link and…. yep they’re right.
There’s a cheap “One Man Empire” knock-off punching me square in the face.
Now first things first…
… If you have sent me one of those emails, I appreciate it brother and thanks for having my back.
Second, here’s the kicker…
The latest arsehole imitation is from someone I know.
… Now in this kind of situation, I figure you’ve two choices.
Choice #1 Unleash Hell And High Fury
Consider that getting pissed off, letting it eat you up, and weigh you down.
A mental mindfuck that ultimately leads to the legal route and spending a shitload of time, money, and effort burning them to the ground with speed and full force.
Or…
Choice #2 Embrace It
Consider letting the little shit slide.
See, there is a sure-fire rule in this game…
- If you are good at what you do – people will think it’s effortless.
- If you are good at what you do – people will be envious.
- If you are good at what you do – people will always try and rip you off.
It’s as predictable as night following day.
The thing is, most fail to understand that anything that looks effortless is usually fucking hard to master.
Which is why nine times out of ten, and when it comes to shit like this I will usually let sleeping dogs lie.
… Because chances are, a year or so down the line, they’ll be dead, buried, and unable to imitate any real success.
After all and as a wise man once said – imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Point being if you have competitors that are trying to rip you off, chances are they’re not worth the time, effort, or distraction.
