In case you didn’t know, a profound German statesman and self-made man Otto von Bismarck once said:
“Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others.”
Kinda funny really when you consider how many mistakes are being made in the economic climate right now.
I mean, fuck, we might as well call it a day and send in the clowns.
Now here’s the crux of the problem as I see it…
… Just two words.
… Two words that I’m guilty of more than most.
… And two words that seem to be the downfall of most men in this game today.
MALE EGO.
Or in other words an unwillingness to accept counsel, driven by a belief of:
“I know best…” and “It’s better to learn from your own mistakes.”
Bullshit of the highest order.
Case in point, when Emma kicked me out on my ear, just 48 hours after Barney was born I learnt that MY MISTAKES could have been 100% avoided if I’d dropped the ego, and listened to the experience and counsel of others.
Male ego has made a lot of very unhappy men.
As well as locking away many a man’s true potential that’s begging to come out.
Anyway if you already take good counsel from other smart ambitious men then this probably doesn’t apply and your ego is already in check.
So, on to The Fellowship and the numbers posted on Thursday by a long-standing member:
First 60k month and it isn’t a fluke. Charlie and the Fellowship thank you all for your help, insight and support. It has kept me focused and motivated!
… I figure the men around the table at this month’s Think Tank will be benefiting by the bucket load, from all the mistakes and experience, that were needed to get results like this.
… Unless of course male ego decides to rear its ugly head 🙂
