Seems people feel it’s still above board and “just business” to avoid settling bills…
Case in point last week at the closed-door Think Tank where one of the smart ambitious men around the table exclaimed that he had £145,000 owed and outstanding.
A bitter pill to swallow for ever the most successful men among us.
Something that led to this particular member of The Fellowship, screaming to the un-apologetic arsehole and customer in question:
“Pay your fucking invoices…”
… Now, if there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s people that pay don’t on time.
There are no excuses – ever.
In fact, and when push comes to shove, there is no greater judgement of man than how he chooses to settle his debts and operate around his financial obligations.
It comes down to one thing, and one thing only…
Back Bone.
… Or what some would call integrity and owning your shit.
It’s why for me, when invoices land they get paid – immediately.
And exactly why whenever I agree to any work, any project or any venture – my rules of engagement always dictate:
- No work is to be booked in without a deposit
- No work is completed without payment up front
- No man, no company or no global organisation is exempt from (2) or (3)
A code of conduct that any self made man of value would be wise to swipe and deploy at speed and with full force.
… See, despite what most will tell you, when it comes to back-bone, in my experience, there is little to be found among the great unwashed masses.
It’s why One Man Empire Iron Law #2:
“Live By A Code Or Die By Your Own Desires”
… Has never been more relevant.
… And more importantly why now more than ever, CASH and a SYSTEM for collecting it effectively, must be placed as most men’s number one priority.
Because if getting paid on time isn’t at the top of your list I can guarantee you, it isn’t at the top of theirs.
If history has taught us anything it’s that as the cookie starts to crumble on any NEW economy, the spoils will only go to those men among us that choose to ruthlessly dictate and control the terms around the movement of money.
